Die Casting Extraction Robotic Arm
Extraction of Die Castings, Extraction System, Extraction Robot, Die Casting Extraction Industrial Robotic Arm
The Die Casting Extraction Robotic Arm, developed by TOVONN Technology, provides professional die-casting extraction solutions, addressing a range of challenges that die-casting engineers may encounter. Our extraction system from TOVONN Technology can also be integrated with functions such as insert placement, casting cooling, overflow well breaking, and gating trimming, meeting all the requirements of the die-casting process. Suitable for die-casting extraction actions in both cold chamber and hot chamber die-casting machines. Ideal for production in aluminum die-casting, magnesium die-casting, and zinc die-casting processes.
Die casting engineers may encounter the following challenges:
- The sprue in the mold is too long, causing interference with the traditional extraction machine's entry and exit, making it unable to remove the casting. Additional manual effort is required to clamp and remove the casting.
- In the case of a die-casting mold with three parts, the space inside is too narrow for a traditional extraction machine to enter, necessitating additional manual assistance to remove the casting.
- After extracting the casting, there is a need for manual removal of runners and overflow wells using hands or tools. However, the broken surface of the gate is uneven, and it may even cause missing corners, resulting in defective castings.
If you are experiencing these difficulties, please contact TOVONN Technology. Let's discuss and plan how to automate the extraction of die-castings and step into the world of automation together.
Extraction Process Upgrade: Tovonn Technology Corporation offers integrated solutions with robotic arm extraction.
Tovonn Technology Corporation provides comprehensive integrated services for robotic arm extraction. Our collaborative partners in robotic arm manufacturing include YASKAWA, ABB, and FANUC, among others. Our service range encompasses the provision of robotic arms, extraction grippers, control systems, as well as programming tailored to specific castings.
The extraction system can integrate functions such as insert embedding, casting cooling, overflow well breaking, and gating punch trimming, enabling a complete automation process for die-casting extraction. For castings from hot chamber die-casting machines, the system can also incorporate spray functionality, allowing simultaneous extraction and spraying to save cycle time.
After the robotic arm extracts the casting, a sensing detector can be utilized to inspect if the casting has completely left the mold. If the die-casting machine features injection detection capability, it can inform the robotic arm about the quality of the production run, enabling placement in different areas. For customers seeking further automation, integration with a cooling water tank can cool the casting before overflow well breaking, reducing waste and volume. Castings intolerant to water cooling can consider the use of an air-cooled rack, utilizing fans for natural cooling.
Castings with shorter production cycle times can be directly placed on the conveyor belt by the robotic arm. For castings with longer cycle times, coordination with a gating punch press can trim the runners, overflow well gates, and other flashings, combined with die-cutting to minimize subsequent manual work hours. For multi-cavity castings, with proper die design, castings from different cavities can be separated during placement.
During the integration planning phase, we employ 3D simulation software to define work areas and installation spaces, laying the groundwork for subsequent on-site programming. Tovonn Technology has the capability to integrate extraction technology with robotic arms and die-casting machines. Machines previously connected include TOYO, TOSHIBA, TBC, HISHINUMA, BUHLER, UBE, FRECH, Prince, Italpresse, LK, Shing Hing, Alitai, and more.

Features
● Headstock Extraction Mechanism:
Three-jaw parallel gripper, mainly designed for standard casting headstocks in medium and small cold chamber die-casting machines. Requires adjustment of the claw installation position to match specified headstock sizes.
● Headstock Extraction Mechanism:
Two-jaw parallel gripper, designed for standard casting headstocks in hot chamber die-casting machines or the headstocks of three-piece molds in cold chamber die-casting machines. Requires changing different claw sizes to match various headstock sizes.
● Headstock Extraction Mechanism:
Elbow-type gripper with strong clamping force, suitable for 800 ~ 1800T or larger medium to large die-casting machines. Requires changing different claw sizes to match different headstock sizes.
● Extraction System Installation:
The system can be equipped with a headstock extraction mechanism and several clamping grippers or punch press grippers for further extraction of castings. For specific installation quantities or detailed specifications, please contact TOVONN Technology.
● Robotic Arm Flexibility:
The robotic arm has the function of flexible servo control. After gripping the casting headstock, it can work in coordination with the ejector function of the die-casting machine, ensuring a stable extraction of the casting from the die-casting mold to maintain the precision of subsequent punch press shearing actions.
● Detection Sensor Integration:
The robotic arm, combined with an extraction detection sensor, can detect multiple features of the casting, ensuring that the casting has been removed from the mold surface. This prevents residues on the mold, avoiding damage to the mold in the next production cycle.
● Communication with Die-Casting Machine:
The die-casting machine can notify the robotic arm whether the gripped casting is a good or defective product. The robotic arm can respond accordingly based on the signal.
● Cooling System Compatibility:
The extraction system can be paired with a cooling water tank or air-cooled rack to assist in lowering the temperature of the castings. For detailed specifications, please contact TOVONN Technology.
● Additional Features:
➔ The robotic arm can be equipped with an overflow well breaking device to remove overflow wells and reduce the volume of castings.
➔ The robotic arm can be paired with a shearing punch press and trimming punch die to remove various burrs and gates, leaving the casting body. With the additional punch press gripper, the casting can be gripped, removed from the punch die, and placed on a conveyor belt.
➔ The extraction system, combined with a insert feeding machine, allows preheating or inspection of inserts, iron sleeves, and other components. The robotic arm, with the insert gripper attached, can place the inserts into the die-casting mold for production.

Product Advantages
● Meets ESG Requirements:
➔ Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
➔ 8.2 Increase economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading, and innovation, with a focus on high-value and labor-intensive industries.
➔ 8.8 Protect labor rights, promote a safe working environment, including for migrant workers, especially women, and those engaged in hazardous work.
● Saving Labor Costs: Integrate the overflow well folding machine, punch press, and die to automate the production process of die-casting extraction. This reduces the frequency of material handling and manual processing time, ultimately lowering the demand for manpower.
● Personnel Safety Protection: In the past, manual operations required workers to wear heat-resistant gloves and reach deep into the mold to extract or place castings, with the arms extending into the working area of the die-casting machine. This often led to unfortunate workplace incidents such as crushed arms or fingers, and amputations. Significantly beneficial for the health protection of workers, employee well-being is the company's foremost interest.
